Our client is an established and very well-respected Chicago law firm.  They are a smaller general business firm, comprised of several former national law firm partners and associates, with an enviable client base that is diverse in terms of geography, industry and size (from individual entrepreneurs, financial institutions and closely-held and middle market companies to Fortune 100 entities).  They emphasize creative thinking, highly deliberate and thoughtful problem solving, and a focus on providing top-tier legal services in a responsive, cost-effective manner that exceeds client expectations.
The firm was founded approximately 25 years ago and is currently comprised of 12 lawyers practicing in the areas of general corporate, business transactions, finance, commercial real estate, business litigation, and estate planning.  Our client desires to remain small, but to increase the depth of its capabilities and expertise by selectively adding 6 to 10 excellent, like-minded lawyers to its practice. Toward that end, they are seeking partner-level attorneys with sophisticated business law practices.  Practice areas of particular interest are corporate, real estate, intellectual property, commercial litigation, estate planning and bankruptcy.  Ideal candidates will have 15 to 25 years of experience, have self-sustaining (or nearly self-sustaining) practices, possess excellent academic credentials, and be business, and business development, oriented.
This is an excellent opportunity for lawyers with established, self-sustaining practices (or nearly self-sustaining practices) looking for an environment that provides the collegiality, flexibility (including regarding billing rates and alternative fee arrangements) and support within which to grow his or her practice to the next level.
The firm is very well-managed, debt-free, and with a partner compensation system that results in partner compensation levels (as a percentage of collections) which are significantly higher than the industry standard for law firms, be they small, mid-size, or large firms.
